Marie-Pierre Weinhold
Born in Morlaix in 1939, Marie-Pierre Weinhold left France in 1961 to live in Canada, the USA, Benelux, Germany, Spain, Venezuela, and then Portugal. She has been living in France again since 1986.
She began learning to draw in the Tainnemont studio in Charleroi in 1972. In 1981, she met the Portuguese artist Martins Correira in Lisbon, a leading figure from another era and a talented sculptor and painter, with whom she underwent the rigorous training required to become a sculptor.
She works in bronze. Over time, she has created an allusive figurative style, eliminating anecdotal and descriptive elements to reach fluid forms and simple volumes. The lines are beautiful and smooth. Sometimes she contrasts them with rough, granite-like masses.
She exhibits regularly in France, but also in London, New York, and Ghent.
